From the Desk of Larry Kligman ('85)
Head of School
Welcome to Heschel! I hope you will enjoy this electronic tour of our school and get a sense of the community that I have been privileged to be part of for over 30 years.
At Heschel, we believe in embracing the whole child by providing a program that works in partnership with our teachers, parents, and students. We have built an extraordinary learning environment that focuses on the development of the child academically, socially, emotionally, physically, and spiritually, creating young people who are independent thinkers and lifelong learners.
Our values of tradition, character, and community have been the foundation of Heschel for forty-three years and they continue to infuse students, faculty and staff, and parents with shared vision and meaningful purpose. We have high expectations for both our students and faculty. Teachers and parents work collaboratively to assure that we offer our students challenging and diverse opportunities for growth in a secure, positive environment with the resources to enable our children to emerge as active citizens who understand the importance of making a difference in the world.
With your first steps on campus you will sense the inspiration and engagement that have been the hallmark of Heschel since I began at the School. I was a student in the elementary school and returned as a teacher after earning a Bachelor of Science degree and teaching credential. I later earned a Master of Education and administrative credential and served in several educational and administrative positions before transitioning to my current role as Head of School in 2013. I feel fortunate to be part of the caring Heschel community of enthusiastic students, dedicated faculty, visionary Board of Directors, devoted parents, and outstanding alumni who make every day special.
Every member of the Heschel community contributes to the life of the School. I encourage you to visit our beautiful campus and meet some of the people who make Heschel such a unique learning community.
I look forward to meeting you.
