Step 1: Complete the online Parent's Financial Statement (PFS)

Heschel uses School and Student Services (SSS) to handle a major portion of the computation in our financial assistance process. SSS is a service of the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS). Based on the information you provide, SSS calculates an estimated amount that your family can contribute to educational expenses. Our SSS code is 1157.

Starting on October 23, 2017, go to and click on the prompt to begin your Parent's Financial Statement (PFS). You will create a user name and password which will allow you to complete the PFS over more than one session, allowing you time to gather the required information and to ensure accuracy.

New student financial assistance applications must be submitted no later than January 22, 2018. Current student financial assistance applications were due by January 12, 2018.

After you press "submit," you'll be brought to a payment screen. The fee of $48 is nonrefundable. Once your PFS is submitted, it cannot be withdrawn from the SSS system.

  • Returning Families: If you applied for tuition assistance for the 2017-18 school year, you were required to submit your last two paystubs from 2017 by January 12, 2018. If you are self-employed you were required to submit your end-of-quarter (September 2017) financials by January 12, 2018.
  • New Families or first-time tuition assistance applicants to Heschel, please submit your 2016 and 2017 federal tax returns with all attached schedules, including W2s, 1099s, etc. -- plus, your last two paystubs from 2017 by January 22, 2018. If you are self-employed, you must submit your end-of-quarter (September 2017) financials by January 22, 2018.
  • Heschel Organization Financial Assistance Form by January 12, 2018 for returning families and by January 22, 2018 for new families.

  • 2016 Federal Tax Returns are required to be submitted by January 12, 2018.
  • 2017 Federal Tax Returns must be submitted by April 27, 2018.


Documents can be uploaded directly to SSS, Overnighted, or Mailed to SSS. Note, it is the family's responsibility to make sure that the file is complete. You may verify this by going to the parent portal at

Mailing: School and Student Services, PO Box 449, Randolph, MA 02368-0449.

Overnighting: School and Student Services, 437 Turnpike Street, Canton, MA 02021.

Uploading: Go to the PFS Online and login, and select the Academic Year 2018-2019 button. From your PFS Online Dashboard, click on the purple "Manage Documents" tab. On the Manage Documents page, under "Upload Documents" click "Browse." Then select the document on your computer and click "Upload Documents."

Note, once you have uploaded a document, it will NOT appear immediately in the "Received Documents" section on the page. It can take up to 48 hours for it to be received and then validated. We will not have access to it until it appears in the "Received Documents" section of the PFS Online.

Documents can be uploaded in the following file formats: Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe PDF, .jpg, .gif, or .tif. Please remove any security or password protection from your PDFs and black out any Social Security numbers.

Step 4: Receiving the Tuition Assistance Decision

Returning families will receive the tuition assistance award decisions in February. New families will receive their Admission decisions in March and tuition assistance award decisions will be included in the admission decision package.
